Naturally Nova Scotia (NNS) was founded in 1994 by Dr. Nancy Smithers. Nancy planted the company’s roots single-handedly, gathering herbs near her home and creating natural health remedies in her kitchen. The business flourished and relocated to a 250-acre certified organic farm and a 25,000 sq ft manufacturing facility was developed.
NNS is now the leading manufacturer in Canada of certified organic, whole food health products. There are a few important things that make us a unique company:
Our products are certfied organic which means that NNS is monitored by a third party organization (QAI) to ensure that the growing, handling, processing, and storage of each product complies with all organic regulations.
Irradiation is never used and no GMO-ingredients are used in the processing of certified organic products.
NNS employs a 'whole food philosophy' with our products: everything is sourced from actual food like herbs, fruit, vegetables, and algae.
We also go to great lengths to use cold temperature processing to preserve all of the nutritional value that is inherent in our products. This is unique in our industry and you can be assured that harmful heat drying has not destroyed any of the bioactive ingredients.
Lastly, NNS's products have no synthetics, fillers, or magnesium stearate.
NNS maintains good manufacturing processes, has attained global certifications for organic processing (NOP, EEC 2092/91, and JAS), and is North America’s first ISO 9001:2000 registered herbal manufacturer.
