Furniture Bank began in 1998 with a clear conviction: that a sense of pride, self-esteem, comfort, and security –in short, a sense of home– are critical ingredients for people to transition out of lives of passivity and hopelessness and into ones of vigour, purpose, and direction. For 15 years, we have been connecting people rebuilding their lives with furniture that still has some life left in it. In the process it takes a burden off already-strapped wallets, and a bit of stress out of already-anxious minds. We believe that Furniture provides the base ingredients for homes filled with dignity, comfort, and –perhaps most importantly but most overlooked– memories.
