Patti Shonek Beads & Jewellery
Patti's First Nation’s and Celtic heritage and her family’s roots in the jewellery industry, (her parent’s owned a fine jewellery store), fostered an early fascination with large crystals, stones, and earth elements which clearly inspire her work. But this is only one area of her creative expression.
From early on Patti was heavily involved in music, dance, theatre, and several avenues of the visual arts. Most notably, she studied classical piano and guitar, performed in theatre and ballet, as well as studied painting, drawing, sculpture and clay at the world-renowned Toledo Museum of Art.
As an adult, Patti is a full-time artist making her own clay beads and pendants at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre, where she maintains her studio. Expanding into media like acrylic painting, graphic arts, photography, woodcarving, and decorative pottery to name a few, she maintains her child-like inquisitive nature. All of her works continue to reflect Patti’s spiritual and fractious self. Her work has been described by others as “visionary”, “experimental”, “playful”, “intriguing” and “unique”.
In addition to being a member of Art First Gallery, and the Revelstoke Potter’s Guild, she is a member of the Board of both the Revelstoke Visual Arts Society and the Revelstoke Theatre Company. You can also find her work at the Stony Nakoda Gift Gallery in Calgary, the BC Interior Forestry Museum Gift Shop and Gallery (Revelstoke), and each Saturday morning at the Revelstoke Farm and Craft Market in Grizzly Plaza.
