Martyn's Cause

Martyn's Cause

610 3rd Street, High River , AB
Hi there, Thank you so much for taking the time and coming to my site. Martyn's Cause is dedicated to raising awareness in youth about the consequences that can arise from violence. Sadly in society, violence is viewed by our youth in a glorified way, there is a "cool" factor to looking tough and acting tough. But in reality, fighting and violence is NOT "cool" nor does it offer true conflict resolution. Violence harbours fear, potentialy deadly and severe consequences, and can ruin countless lives. As a first row participant in being a widow, dealing with the justice system, coming to terms with the fact that five teenagers murdered my fiancee, and witnessing the entire event. I have a unique story to tell to widows and widowers as well. My perspective on moving forward with grief, depression, and learning to take back your life. Deciding to move forward, and realizing that in this life, we have been given the choice to be BITTER and the choice to be BETTER . I love speaking with people who need that inspiration that life really can and does get better. The goal of Martyns Cause is; Change the view of teen violence in our youth Help others to move on in their lives in a healthy way Honouring Martyn's life and our amazing love that has changed me in way I never could have imagined possible Over the past three years I have dedicated a huge part of my life to making an example of Martyn's death, as well as an example of myself I take pride in inspiring people through words of encouragement that can only be truly expressed by those who have suffered a similar loss, and changing the path of many young people with down to earth real, sometimes graphic talks about the negative effects of violence and youth. After years of negative self talk, I have learned that I to deserve a second chance at life, and so it has become is my passion to be able to help people through the loss of a loved one due to violent and traumatic events, and educate youth about the negative effects of violence, potentially saving a life every time I re live the loss of Martyn's. I currently am a regular speaker with various organizations across Calgary, and offer a variety of different speaking approaches based on the needs of your particular group. I look forward to speaking with each and every one of you about what I can offer to you and your organization. Yours Truly; Christine Roberton-Rachar
