Care & Share Programs The Food Bank: The Chilliwack Community Food Bank is a member of The Food Banks British Columbia (FBBC) and affiliated member of the Canadian Association of Food Banks, and is the only authorized Food Bank in the Chilliwack area.The Food Bank offers emergency food to unemployed and underemployed people who are hungry because they do not have enough food for themselves or their families. Clients need to make an appointment to see an Intake Worker, and also are required to bring in the following information: * Photo Identification * birth certificate * medical card * proof of source of income * rent confirmation Donations to the Food Bank are gladly accepted at any time. Non-perishable food items may be dropped off directly at the Care & Share Centre (get directions) or at donation bins in any participating grocery store. Please call the Care & Share office for the location of a participating grocery store near you. Businesses and groups are also encouraged to run Food Drives of their own. We provide support and donation bins for your drive. Please contact us if you are interested in running your own Food Drive on behalf of the Chilliwack Community Food Bank. Hungry families will thank you. Hours: Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. The Soup Kitchen: The Soup Kitchen provides meals, for adults only. Families with children are encouraged to use the Food Bank. The Soup Kitchen offers one free meal a day, Monday to Friday from 12 noon to 1:00 pm. Holiday Camp: The Care & Share offers Holiday Camp to kids ages 7-12. It is located on the beautiful Sunshine Coast BC near Gibsons BC. This is an opportunity for your child to experience a week away where they will learn, play and grow. Contact Chrisandra: sa.chwk3@shaw.ca Homeless Outreach Program: The Homeless Outreach Program provides a targeted outreach to assist chronic homeless persons with advocacy and support addressing their barriers to a long-term housing solution. Homeless Outreach workers provide assessment and referrals to Mental Health services, Addictions treatment, Employment assistance, Emergency housing and other Salvation Army services. This program is provide in partnership with BC Housing, a division of the BC Provincial Government. Contact: 604-703-4524 The Emergency Shelter Program: The Emergency Shelter Program is operated in partnership with BC Housing. The Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. It is available to adults over the age of 18 and families with children by referral through the Care & Share Centre, or other community agencies. Daytime programs and access to the case workers are available for all guests. Guests receive three meals a day, a hot shower, clean linen and complimentary toiletries. To contact the emergency shelter please call: 604-792-4486 Youth Safe House: The Emergency Youth Shelter, for children and teens from age twelve to eighteen, is open from 7:00 pm to 9:00 am every night by referral from Chilliwack Youth Services, local youth pastors, school counselors, or by self-referral. The Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) provides partial funding for the Shelter and is a full partner in its operation. The Ministry is notified of any youth that stay in the shelter for follow-up assistance and ongoing support. The Cheque Administration Program: This program housed within The Care and Share Centre is an off site program for Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance (MEIA) clients. Only Clients referred by the Ministry are eligible. Emergency Response: A Volunteer team who at the request of the Fire Chief go out to fires/disasters to assist the firemen/workers with refreshments. Christmas Hampers: Once a year, Christmas Hampers are available to anyone in need. Applications for this service are available in November. Christmas Hampers include fresh vegetables, milk, a turkey voucher, and enough food for a full Christmas dinner for the whole family. They also include toys for everyone in the family through a partnership with Chilliwack Community Services. The popular Adopt-a-Family program provides individuals and businesses with the opportunity to sponsor a client family’s Christmas hamper, including gifts specific to the members in that family. Applications for Christmas Hampers are available in November each year. Vouchers: Vouchers for clothing, household items and furniture are available to those who can demonstrate need. In the case of an emergency, clients can come to the front office and see an Intake Worker, who will evaluate their situation and provide vouchers according to need. All vouchers are given out Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Vouchers are redeemable through the Chilliwack store only. Family Services: The Salvation Army in Chilliwack is able to make referrals to a wide range of other Salvation Army programs for assistance, including addictions and rehabilitation, Family Tracing Service for missing persons, Pro-Bono legal assistance, psychological and spiritual counselling, child care assistance, children’s camps, and emergency travel. We also refer to other community help agencies and services including Chilliwack Community Services, Career Tracks, and Ann Davis. The Chilliwack Corn Maze is proud to announce that we are celebrating our 15 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. We are also excited to announce our partnership with Raise A Reader and celebrating 140 years of the RCMP! Admission cost: $9 for ages 3-12 $11 for ages 13 and older. Admission cost includes the Corn Maze, giant jumping pillow, barn area, giant haybale maze, and pedal cart track. Firepits may be reserved in the evening for groups of 10 or more. There is no cost to reserve firepits but please call in advance. Firewood is available on site. The first bundle is free, and after that bundles are $5 each.
