Fort Calgary
Discover Fort Calgary, built by the Mounted Police at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers in 1875. Visit our lively Interpretive Centre and explore the history of Calgary. Experience early Calgary life between 1875 and 1914. You may find yourself on both sides of the law, either by spending some time in our jail, or by becoming a Mountie in our authentic uniforms.
We offer self-guided and group tours, theatre screenings, an historic museum, educational programming, summer camps for kids, special events, a gift shop, meeting, and banquet facilities, and more.
The Deane House, Fort Calgary's restaurant, is located just across the river, serving cuisine designed by our award winning Chef, Peter Syriste. The lovingly restored house was built in 1906 to house Captain Deane who was the Royal North West Mounted Police Commanding Officer.
Fort Calgary also has a community garden who grows thousands of pounds of produce annually which is then donated to local charities.
